On October 12, 2102 we witnessed a true tragedy–a fire at the St. Joseph Hill Convent. The historic portion of the Sisters home—with their chapel, sacristy, archives and provincial offices are destroyed—is now a crime scene.
The Sisters ask for prayers, especially for their beloved Sister Regina, who is in intensive care at Staten Island University Hospital.
Also, to all those that have expressed concern and send the Sisters their best wishes, thank you. Your prayers are much appreciated.
The Sisters appreciate your outpouring of support in their time of need, but at this time we all must wait patiently until the investigation is concluded. The Sisters are grateful to the NYPD and FDNY for their quick and speedy response.
The Sisters will return their original home to a state of beauty—when they can.
Since news of this event reached friends and loved ones of the Sisters, many have asked what they can do. The Sisters will rebuild, they will restore their Convent and their place of worship. With generous contributions from people like you.
